Custom made, aged metallic sequins, color matched to 1920's/1930's deep red gelatin sequins. The sequins used on the real pairs of ruby slippers are quite different from sequins made today in that the color profile is made up of not only red, but pink, blue and purple hues. Most modern red sequins simply show as a flat, metallic red. These sequins manage to show all of the correct vintage colors in varying lighting, with an addition aged look that can't be replicated with standard costume sequins.
Custom made Art Deco center stones with aged foil backing, featuring the correct Art Deco stylized cuts in the steps on the glass. The foil backing is something I add myself, and this particular foil was worn away to give an aged appearance. Custom made extra thin bugle beads surround the center glass gems, and are the result of more than 20 years of searching. The only way to put the most accurate bugle bead layout is to use the same extra thin bugles that MGM Studios used. The bows are rimmed in vintage 1930's rose montee rhinestones, chemically oxidized to give an older appearance. All of these components come together on an authentic pair of 1930's Innes Shoe Company pumps in the same style as Judy Garland's ruby slippers.
The ultimate Oz collector's item, this pair of shoes will be on display in a Wizard of Oz themed museum opening later this year.
