In an early scene, Angelinos desperate to reach Elysium wave wads of cash at the coyotes controlling access to an illegal transport shuttle.  Although not shown in closeup onscreen, the trilingual North American Union poor people's currency of  2154 is printed on ordinary paper in multiple color-coded denominations, with images of different North American birds on the reverse.

Ameros made for production, consisting of bound stacks of mint one, five, ten, and twenty Amero bills; and bound stacks of used fifty, one hundred, and one thousand Ameros. Paper, featuring denominations in three languages, NAU and USA-CAN-MEX markings, and simulated security features.
