A rare & unusual SPFX NTI ( Non Terrestrial Intelligence ) Alien Skin Test piece, which was custom made for the production for approval by Director James Cameron during pre-production of his underwater science fiction / action adventure film "The Abyss". Created by the legendary special effects shop XFX to demonstrate the opalescent & translucent simulated skin of the alien creatures seen in the film.

The creation of the translucent alien puppets in The Abyss was an incredibly challenging feat of design & fabrication and considered one of the most difficult ever achieved in traditional / practical motion picture special effects, contributing to The Abyss winning an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
