In second season episode Marauders, Archer and his landing party help a small deuterium mining colony fend off a group of Klingon bandits who've been terrorizing them.  With very limited weaponry (such as this old rifle) and even less training available to the colonists, a plan is hatched to leverage cunning and subterfuge against the brutal but not so bright Klingons.

The prop itself is a repainted Bajoran phaser rifle from Deep Space Nine, as seen in multiple episodes including use by the Bajoran Militia in third season episode Shakaar, and by Odo's Security forces in fourth season opener The Way of the Warrior.

Static carbine of hard rubber, repainted in heavily weathered metallic silver with black grips. Where the silver paint has worn off, hints of the underlying burnt orange, brown, and gold Bajoran color scheme can be seen.
