Doctor Who, 5th Doctor's 1981 Sonic Screwdriver and Tardis Key
replica movie prop
The 5th Doctor's Sonic isn't actually TECHNICALLY the 5th Doctor's sonic seeing as how it was refurbished for Tom Baker's last season as the Doctor and appeared in this configuration for that season but, Peter still had it like this for a little while longer before it's eventual destruction in "The Visitation" and the color scheme fits his look more so most people consider this to be the 5th Doctor's sonic.
The sonic itself is another RB Replica's FX Sonic screwdriver ordered just this year and modified by myself in the usual way...y'know, smaller emitter, custom emitter magnet etc... and amazingly enough has the LOUDEST of the sound modules I've ever heard from these. I dunno if that was done on purpose or not but it's excellent.
Seen next to the screwdriver is the closest I could get to the 5th Doctor's Tardis key. It was done with great help from the Yale/ERA Tardis Key Research thread running on the RPF with help of fellow researchers Terrasolo and TimeyWhimeyStuff. We're not sure of the specific brand that was used on screen as they never get close enough to see writing but, since we're reasonably sure Yale brands were used in the early years such as "Spearhead From Space" it was decided that we'd use Yale here. Thanks to TimeyWhimeyStuff we located a lock style that came with the appropriate nickle plated keys which have the distinction of having only a single bumper on it much the same as the 9th Doctor's ERA branded keys. There seems to be a question though as to whether the key was cut for use in a working lock or if it was blank but seeing as how these keys come cut there wasn't much of a choice and well, cut keys DO look better in my opinion, lol. One final note on the key is the string it's on. Yes, it's true, it's just a piece of hemp cord...really, they didn't use a fancy chain or anything on the key...just a piece of cord.
Thanks to Terrasolo for the additional screen stills.
