miscellaneous productions, 1975 Don Post Studios Mr. Spock Latex Halloween Mask - Forrest J. Ackerman Collection

original movie prop

Pictured is THE 1975 Don Post Studios Mr. Spock mask that was formerly displayed in Forrest J. Ackerman's 18-room sci-fi museum/home in "Horrorwood, Karloffornia", known as the "Ackermansion".

The Don Post Studios Mr. Spock latex mask, catalogued by Don Post Studios in 1976, was sculpted by Bill Malone, using a life cast of a young Leonard Nimoy. At the time of its creation, the DPS Mr. Spock mask retailed for $29.95.

This particular Spock mask was beautifully foam-filled by former owner, Dante Renta, before going to Forry's collection, preserving its original shape perfectly. It was restored Tom Spina Designs in 2017. The restoration involved filling in and paint-matching cracked latex, primarily on the neck, and adding an acrylic base for better balance.

Forrest J. Ackerman passed away one minute before midnight on December 4, 2008, at the age of 92, leaving behind thousands of pieces in his modest Los Feliz home. Forry's spirit and legendary collection live on in the Seattle Science Fiction Museum, where he served as a board member, and in the private collections of avid horror and Si-Fi fans around the world.
