Apocalypto (2006), Curl Nose's Severed Head

Curl Nose's severed head from the 2006 Mel Gibson movie Apocalypto. Partway through the movie, Jaguar Paw and his fellow men are capture and led to a big civilisation and marked for 'sacrifice' atop a pyramid. Curl Nose is the second unfortunate man to have his heart ripped out and beheaded while he is still alive, and although not seen clearly the characters distinctive make-up and hair appears to be a great match to the prop presented here. The piece is crafted from foam rubber with an unsecured weight inside that gives it momentum when rolling, and has been painted to match the character's skin colour and blue paint marks, with hand punched hair and painted eyebrows, the severed neck has been made to look gruesome and bloody with exposed bone and flesh inside.
