Let the bad color not be seen, it attracts them. Never enter the woods, that is where they wait. Heed the warning bell, for they are coming. The Village is a 2004 American fantasy-thriller film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan about a turn-of-the-20th-century village whose inhabitants live in fear of the creatures inhabiting the woods beyond it. It is revealed the villagers live in fear of nameless creatures in the woods that surround the village. They have built a barrier of oil lanterns and watch towers that are constantly manned to keep watch for "Those We Don't Speak Of", who are spoken of numerous times early in the film. It is explained that the villagers have a long-standing truce with the monsters; the villagers do not go into their woods, and the creatures do not enter their village. This is a screen used creature display from The Village and used in multiple scenes of the film. The most pivotal scene being when the chief Elder, Edward Walker (William Hurt) reveals to his blind daughter Ivy Elizabeth Walker (Bryce Dallas Howard) the secret of the creatures; that they are a fabrication created by the Elders to scare the children from the woods in an attempt to keep them from leaving the village. Among other scenes it is also believed to be the costume used for the scene when we are introduced to the creature and Ivy is holding her hand out the door's threshold.
